A/B Testing

How does it work?

The new A/B testing feature for emails works by allowing an administrator or user to test up to two different subject lines to use for a single email campaign. A user will be able to create the two subject lines, select what percentage of the overall campaign recipient list to use as a test for both subject lines and set the timing for how long to run the test. The initial test campaign will send, determine which subject line has the best results and send the winning subject line in the final campaign to the remaining recipients.

Example Uses

Send an event invitation email with two different subject lines to a subset of your recipients list to see which subject line gets the best open rate. The winning subject line will then automatically send to the remainder of the list to give you the best possible open rates for your campaign.

How do you set it up?

1. Select the email you want to send

2. In Step 2 of the campaign page, to the right of "Create your email subject"  check the "A/B test” box

 3. Fill in your two subject lines.

4. Set what percentage of the entire recipient list you want to receive the test. When the email is sent, the system will send subject line A to 50% of the test recipients and subject line B to the other 50%. (example: If there is 100 contacts and you are splitting the test 10% the a/b test will send to 10 contacts, 5 will receive subject line A and 5 will receive subject line B campaign)

5. Set the timing, it can be days/hours, we recommend a 3 day send time for the winning campaign, this will allow the test recipients time to respond. Once the time is set the winning campaign will be sent to the remaining recipients.

6. After your campaign goes out you can view your results in the email tracking report. Emails sent using A/B test will have a campaign type of "Email A/B Test” and you can click "Show Campaigns” from the actions dropdown to see the results for both the test and final campaign sent.

*Please note if you are sending a new email campaign using a saved campaign that was sent using A/B testing it will ONLY send as an A/B campaign.
