Searchable Microsites
How does it work?
Creators of microsites within the platform can now submit the pages of a microsite to search engines. This will allow search engines to find the HTML page content in your microsite and display it as a search result within their search engine sites. By default microsites do not allow search engines to see them. By submitting your microsite to the search engines the search engines will always be able to see and crawl your content.
Example Uses
Turn on a New Product Announcement microsite page for search engines to be able to find and display the pages as search results when someone types in relevant information into a search engine browser.
How do you set it up?
1. Create a Microsite page. Once you are on the Edit Page screen, you will notice additional fields below the HTML window you can fill out that will be used if you submit your microsite to the search engines. These fields are Page Keywords and Page Change Frequency. You can enter up to 10 key words for each microsite page. Page Frequency sets how often the search engines should pull new data from the page. A guide on typical uses for the different settings can be seen by hovering over the (i) informational icon next to the field name.
2. Once you have all of your pages created with any keywords and page change frequency added, click on the Submit to Search Engines link. Be aware once you submit to the search engines you cannot revoke this action.
NOTE: Please allow 3 business days for your submission to be processed.
3. After you submit to the search engines, if your microsite is a dynamic site that pulls in content and variable information based on a user profile, you can configure the details for which specific users versions of the microsite should be captured when the search engines start to crawl the site. This allows you to have one microsite that could be used by multiple of your users while allowing the search engines to see all of the unique versions. Save your settings and you are done.
